Upcoming run from 10k to 20k

Posted By Divatude ~ Nov 25, 2009 2:08PM

Hey guys,

On Monday I ran my 6 mi followed by Tuesday making thus far a total run this week of 12 miles. I have not been following the time of my runs this week--- because I want to go easy with my knee, since it's still healing. I am not running on Wednesday this week. Instead, tomorrow around 6am I will run a 20k, which is 12 miles straight. I need to get back into my discipline and focus tonight on stretching and taking care of my face. I have started to exfoliate daily due to an upcoming shoot.

Hopefully, tomorrow will not drain me out =) I want to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving.

Much love,

60 miles clocked in yesterday.

Posted By Divatude ~ Nov 21, 2009 2:39PM

Hey guys!

I did not get a chance to write yesterday because I went out to dine at this amazing Indian restaurant and enjoy my friend's company to watch the movie, Precious. It was a great movie! On Friday I did get a chance to run and finish my second 30 mile week which totals 60 miles overall.

I have a lot more energy, and my legs are getting more defined. I've made a strong commitment to not run on the weekends and I'm sticking to it! Besides, my knee needs to heal.

During the weekend I usually just do a few cycles of lunges, stretches and abdominal crunches--- 5 sets of 100 to be exact.
I have a lot of work to do today so I am just cutting it brief.

Until next time,

An accident while running TODAY: 11/19 marks 24th mile this week and 56 miles THUS FAR!

Posted By Divatude ~ Nov 19, 2009 4:29PM

Yikes.

Those were my words when I ran my 6 mile run this morning. I was more than half way done when I tripped on garbage and landed chin first into the pavement and busted my knee! A guy and a lady came to my rescue and asked if I was okay-- sweet people:) After thanking them all I could say was what's the time? I was clocking myself.. With a bloody knee and all I continued on my run? I am gutsy eh?

I got up from the floor, it felt like a minute went by, and ran it off-- My knee was oozing with well, blood.

50min/6 miles & Day 1: of getting my smooth skin prepped for Photo Shoot time

Posted By Divatude ~ Nov 18, 2009 12:32AM

Hey guys!

I am super excited because yesterday I ran 6 miles in 50 minutes. When I clocked it I was in disbelief-- I called my friend because he was there when I clocked in and he says I should have clocked 11:45am-12:25pm NOT clock in 11:35 so I guess It's really 40 min.. which is crazy. I will have to reconfirm this tomorrow. I will stick with 50 minutes because I find that a little more believable.

I really need to stretch myself out before my run tomorrow. I also need to monitor my diet by eating more and making sure I take in enough calcium.

My forehead is slightly bumpy-- I'll be exfoliating this entire week because I have a shoot coming up. My skin needs to be great so that means I'll be whipping out the honey and sugar concoction.

I think I am going to start making fitness videos-- speaking will be faster than typing :)

<3 you all!
P.s Today will make all time run of 48 miles since I started last week.

I plan on running later in the day today! I have some deadlines for articles due

Peace & Love

1st 6 mile this week--felt like I was on cruise control

Posted By Divatude ~ Nov 16, 2009 2:51PM

I love running in the fall because it's not too hot or too cold. I kept waking up this morning every half hour after 5am, it was hard getting up to run after my weekend of relaxation. I eventually got up around 7 am and had a bowl of cheerios and a glass of water. I did a few stretches to start because I am determined to NOT get cramping in my legs in the middle of a run. I think it is what you call, "Charlie Horses". Well, the pain from what I remember is excruciating I have experienced about two of these.

I ran a lot quicker this time, I clocked in 57min/6mi-- not too bad.

There are a couple of things I remember when I am run and that is to:

  • breathe through my nose and not my mouth
  • maintain excellent posture
  • have my arms move parallel to each other and limit any crossing across my mid-section

Lastly, give a fair amount of time between a meal and the actual run! Today, I didn't follow that rule and it resulted in some serious cramps. I ran through the pain. Tomorrow will be better!

I am also going to start a sugar exfoliation regime with my face. I am prepping it for a upcoming shoot and I need clear skin. I'll start that process tomorrow.

Until next time,

My first 30 mile Week

Posted By Divatude ~ Nov 14, 2009 3:00PM

Yesterday I completed my last set of 6 miles, this brought me to my first 30 mile week. I promised myself to not run on the weekends and just devote my two days of freedom to stretching and relaxation. Currently, I've done light AB workouts and leg stretches. My goal is to tone up my legs-- so I've invested in ankle weights to help with some resistance.

I'll try to post some videos and photos soon.

This post is a bit brief, my apologies--

Today will make 24 miles clocked IN

Posted By Divatude ~ Nov 12, 2009 5:59AM

Yesterday morning I ran another 6 miles in 58 minutes. Although, it is the same time from yesterday-- for whatever reason I feel that I ran a lot better. I was more focused. I also ran nonstop! I never would have dreamed that I, a retired sprinter, would be doing long distance runs. It makes me wonder if I should have tried to do it in high school. Well, there is no time for regrets. I run for pleasure and that's it.

I've been trying to load up on fluids and carbohydrates. I limit my junk food intake now-- I view my body as a machine for all things good. I fuel it up with the essential carbohydrates/proteins/& fats. I am also becoming a better cook!

What did I have last night for dinner?

The above photo shows I had made beef Rigatoni with tomato sauce, tossed garden salad --sprinkled with Gorgonzola cheese--YUM, grilled honey glazed BBQ chicken tenders, with golf ball grapes on the side.

I had this with a glass of... you guessed it apple juice.

Prior to that, for breakfast I had a bowl of cheerios-- something light before a run is best. I also leave time from when I eat until I actually run to stretch or break. Running immediately after eating can cause cramping while you run. It is also not best to run on an empty stomach either because your body needs fuel & energy. Carbs are the number one source of energy. You can see why I am not a fan of all those crazy diets that deem it out to be something "evil".

Forget the {insert name here} weight loss diets.

Just eat right and work out.. It really should be about becoming fit and toned by exercising than trying to lose anything by just sitting down. If there are such ways to lose the pounds by doing nothing-- it is an unhealthy way.

Period.

Today marks another 6 miles. In this week alone : 24 miles have been clocked in.

I was viewing this website this morning :Running in the USA. It gives listings of all races that are happening throughout the nation. There is even a 5k race this Saturday--- I think I need more training even though I've been running a 10k daily.

I'm just doing this for fun and the rewards have been great.

Until next time,

Back on Track.

Posted By Divatude ~ Nov 10, 2009 6:22PM

I entitled this entry, Back on Track, for a solid reason-- that is self-explanatory. I've have not written a note for quite sometime, because to be frank my exercise routine has not been very consistent.  I am determined to be back on track! This goes for every aspect of my life : physical fitness, mental fitness, spiritual fitness, & relationship fitness. I want it all.

I've been doing heavy cardio to tone up my legs and work out my arms. I think running is the best way to do so. Running is the one exercise that will allow you to  get an overall workout of your entire body. As I type this short entry I can still feel the results from both my arms, legs, and bottom. I have not ran such a  long distance with a fast past  in quite a long time.

What did I do this evening?

5 sets of 100 crunches

ran 6 miles in 58 minutes.

Don't judge me with the time.. I was not trained to be a long distance runner!

What did I eat this morning?

1 bowl of cereal --- Cheerios to be exact. I don't care for Cheerios much but I could not find my raisin bran :(*

and a glass of apple juice( I know , I know--- it does not sit well)

How about lunch?

I made myself some P&J sandwich with garden salad on the side

Let's get to dinner ... what did you have?

grilled chicken breast, apple juice( I love apple juice), pasta, & salad

I snacked on baby carrots in between -- I often dip them in sour cream-- Again, don't judge )

What are your fitness goals?

I just want to maintain good energy and a toned body. I don't believe in setting goals for a particular weight.  I don't even own a scale!

Good Night!
